Dodgers Game 82 Notes

Another delay to start tonight's game in Kansas City. First time I recall seeing the Dodgers play in Kansas City, btw. The dodgers pooped on the Royals chest last night as Mookie homered twice, including ANOTHER leadoff homer. Not sure Mookie has had a hotter stretch in his career than he has these last ten games. About an hour and a half late, but in between thunderstorms I guess they're playing some baseball tonight.

Pretty weird - I just watched Will Smith hit a ball down the right field line, foul - The Royals have netting basically all the way down to the foul pole 🤔. like the fans sitting in the foul territory side of the right field foul pole, even one seat over in foul territory, apparently have a net in front of them? Brutal

Tale of the Tape:

Los Angeles Dodgers, 46-35 2nd NL West

Julio Urias, 5-4 4.39 ERA

Kansas City Royals, 23-59 5th AL Central

Daniel Lynch, 1-3 3.96 ERA

Top 1st

-Mookie walks

- JD single 1st / 3rd two outs

- Groundout to 3rd

Hey Julio U is back!

Bot 1st

- Runners 1b/ 3b no outs. Julio looks less than fresh

- "Savvy"dor Perez is best in the league at flipping base hits the other way 1-0 Royals

-Julio 22 pitches with only one out. totally laboring through long ass counts

- 3-0

-Royals up 5-0. Get Julio out of there. Forfeit this game if you have to. Bullpen doesn't need this labor

- Five runs for the Royals on arguably no barrels found

Top 2nd

-Mookie sac fly RBI

-Runner on 3rd with Fred up.

- Just realized if you combine the "2" from "2nd" and the "rd" from "3rd", it spells turd

- Automatic Freddie single RBI 5-3. we are an ankle biting dog

Top 6th

Took a break from watching to go drive to Culver city and get some more baseball card sleeves before the store closed for the night. Getting back into (or into for real for the first time) collecting baseball cards. Mostly looking or expensive cards featuring prospects.

Anyway 5-3 Royals still.

- I know it's almost tired for baseball fans / pundits to mention how every pitcher throws harder and harder every night it seems like. But Carlos Hernandez, RP on the Royals, is a pitcher I've watched more than I would've expected obviously given KC - he pitches literally every time I watch the Royals - 99-101 mph consistently and seems nasty.

Bot 6th

- Great inning for Ryan Brasier

Top 7th

- Jessus Christ Mookie

- Double for Mookie. Hottest player i've seen in recent memory period. Hottest Dodger player I can recall since Yasiel Puig's Linsanity run tbh

Bot 7th

- Royals get a run on sac fly RBI from Bobby Witt Jr.

- Rnner on 2nd stole 3rd the pitch before; swear I haven't seen Will Smith throw a runner out all year. Ppl forget how much of a weapon that is for a team

Top 8th

-Max Muncy topspin blasts one by the 1b

- The announcer on FOX sounds like the NBA/College Basketball play-by-play guy with the wonky eyes. He's great but just random if this is actually him.

- David Peralta smashed past the 2nd basemen

-7 game hit streak for Peralta

-Fuck yes James Outman chops ball to 1bman and he gets caught in between throwing it home for a tag out or going to 1st, decides to go to 1st after looking home, Outman's too damn fast safe

- Dodgers get one back 6-4 Royals

- Fred got up with 2outs bases loaded and chopped it over to the 2nd baseman; that out got me thinking how blessed we are as baseball fans that the shift rule is in place. Was fully against it prior to the season but seeing how watchable baseball is now has changed my mind 180 degrees. The ball Freddie grounded out on deserved to be an out.

Bot 8th

- Will Smith throws out Ed Olivares , I write to motivate him

Top 9th

- JD Martinez whiffle balls K

- this is an underwhelming, non-care loss that might be trouble come September. Team pitched and played well completely outside of Julio Urias.

Game over, Dodgers lose. Yeah if Julio Urias didn't poop the bed to start the game, Dodgers win this I think. Who knows what motivates the Royals. I've been motivated all day by collecting baseball cards. Opening up packs of baseball cards is exponentially more fun than watching the value of corporations all day and that will be the same for the continued existence of people.
