Scouting Report 8/28-9/3

Hello and welcome back to the Scouting Report, for those of you who have seen the light, and followed this blog religiously. I hope the first edition was up to any expectations. Anyone?

Expectations can be problematic. As I advance through this world with my computer and a so-so wifi connection, I have began to understand the problems with making too much out of expectations. No matter what I said for the Indians and Red Sox series, I was wrong. Basically it turned out to be a coin flip on the quality of the game and the final score, a close bullpen game or the kind where beer sales spike, regardless.

I digress.

The week before the return to school gave me a lot of free time, so I did watch almost a whole game of the Colorado and KC series. Lucky for me I lounged all the way through the end of the game, and saw Hosmer do Eric things as he went deep with two outs in the ninth to give the Royals the W. Nothing like being in the right place at the right time am I right, Hoz?

Looking ahead, looking ahead. Gonna keep things real simple. For some reason I alwaaaysss like to watch the Orioles and Mariners play. This is just a sexy match-up to me. Like big and sexy, a big, sexy Bartolo Colon ball game. Call me crazy, but I'd bet $4.17 that I'm not the only baseball guy who can agree with that. Maybe it's Nelson Cruz... The guy probably likes a nice uniform, all his squads have 'em. Besides the BIG time bats that'll be making mince meat of Camden Yards, both clubs still have a shot! Both enter the series with a record within a game of the .500 mark, not to mention the amount of big name sluggers that'll be between the lines (and not the nicknames, no): Cruz, Cano, Schoop are all having great years. I don't think either team will make the playoffs, however, like I said last week for the Brewers, baseball is a happier place when the Mariners make it to the cold months..........it's too bad the people in Seattle might not feel the same.

Thursday the Yankees and BoSox go to blows for the 17th time, their fifth and final series of the 2017 regular season. If you can't remember the last time that you watched a Yanks/Sox game the whole way through it's because you never have, because it's impossible. I just found an article saying their games have been 3:31 this year, through July 16. Chris Sale should shorten things up on Sunday, and if you're on the west coast it may be the last time we see the foes square up. Prediction: an imploooossioonn on the part of the Yankees, precisely their bullpen. Aroldis can't find it, Betances probably can't believe that he may or may not have hit James McCann in the f***ing head intentionally, and Joe Girardi's seat is so hot that he'd probably rather play this series in Boston.
