Dodgers Game 72 Notes 6/18/23

Hello hello and Happy Father's Day to all the dads, past, present, and future out there. I know I can speak for many guys out there that grew up playing catch with their dad, that those are still some of the fondest memories I hold dearest. As America's pastime, baseball has always been more celebratory of holidays than other American sports. And of all the holidays that baseball honors so well - Memorial Day, Mothers Day, 4th of July - no day is as closely connected to the very fabric of baseball more than Fathers Day. I know I wouldn't be writing this blog right now if it wasn't for my dad sharing his love of baseball with me at an early age. Thank you, Dad, for giving me the greatest gift of knowledge and practice I have in my life. To the dads of my friends and former teammates, I thank you dearly for sharing that love for baseball with your kids, because without it everything would be all different.

Thank you Dad.

Alright now to the game. I was out shopping for groceries when this final Sunday game kicked off. We're not gonna talk much about the 15-0 beat down that the Dodgers received last night, but I must acknowledge it. Seems like Dodgers twitter is starting to get restless, too. I edge on the side of pessimism with the Dodgers, which is not the case for the greater portion of this fanbase, but they're feeling the heat now for sure. Once again, my chameleon eyes are on this game as well as the final round of the U.S. Open.

Tale of the Tape:

Los Angeles Dodgers, 39-32 2nd NL West

Tony Gonsolin, 4-1 1.93 ERA

San Francisco Giants, 38-32 3rd NL West

Logan Webb, 5-6 3.15 ERA

Bot 4th

- Dodgers load the bases, James Outman K's with bases loaded.

Bot 5th

-Mookie, Freddie, Willy due up down 3-1

-Freddie double to LF

-Freddie squeezing right wrirst, looks like it was on his slide into 2b on his double. I've done this exact thing before at a camp in HS and thought I broke it. Less than 6 weeks but more than 4 from this, just wait.

- David Peralta RBI, 2nd hit. He's actually playing quite well as of late.

- JD Martinez GIDP

-GIDP is an epidemic also lately for Dodgers

3-2 Giants

Top 6th

-Gonsolin gives up screaming double to Yastrzemski, runners on 2b/3b

Another poor loss for the Dodgers. All you can do is move forward; where this team moves forward to, we'll have to wait and see. This one's for all the dads, though. Thank you to all of you for what you do.
