Dodgers Game 78 Notes
Hello, friends. Unfortunately I forgot to publish my game notes from the most recent Sunday Night Baseball. If I didn't write a blog about the Dodgers rubber-match on Sunday, did the Dodgers really lose? Yes. I need to tell myself they lost and I was wrong. But it was still a series win. Time to revisit this week's midweek series in Colorado, a place I swear the Dodgers play at more than Phoenix, San Diego and San Francisco combined year over year, but the tendency is for the Dodgers to rake at Coors Field - specifically to my memory, one Chris Taylor. Of course, however, Chris Taylor was put on the 10-day IL on Sunday (6/25). Here are his batting splits against opponents anyway just because I really like proving how right I am most of the time 👍:
Yes, as I said the above fact without looking up his stats until my theory sparked my curiosity, I again am correct. Unfortunately the Dodgers will be without Taylor this series, who very much could have used a series at his favorite park to kickstart some kind of hot hitting. Alas the Dodgers will continue to ride the bullpen success (man did they prove me wrong, but not holding my breathe) and a Mookie Betts leadoff home run trend into the Mile-High City. Today is Tuesday, June 27th. I am guaranteeing that the Dodgers will be in 1st place in the NL West by next holiday Tuesday, July 4th.
Here is the rundown for what I expect to be a 15-12 game in Denver tonight:
Tale of the Tape:
Los Angeles Dodgers, 43-34 3rd NL West
Clayton Kershaw, 9-4 2.72 ERA
Colorado Rockies, 31-49 5th NL West
Connor Seabold, 1-3 5.88 ERA
Top 2nd
-ROJAS! He does something. Sac Fly RBI
-Outman is getting 🔥🔥🔥RBI single
Bot 2nd
-Broadcast is talking about how tough the sun is for the 1st baseman playing in the field while the sun is going down
- if you haven't seen this visual before as I have many times you would be SHOCKED by how bad the sun is in an evening start time for the 1st baseman on both teams for about the first 3 or 4 innings. I don't know how the 1st baseman sees any pickoff throw from the pitcher or anything coming from the 3rd baseman tbh
- Kershaw 2 hitless IP
Top 3rd
-2,001* hits for Fred
- JD Martinez 🌮
- using that jetstream to right like he's an 8th yr Dodger
- JD Martinez's career average is apparently .438 at Coors Field??
Bot 3rd
- This is the best I've seen Kershaw all season. 9/9 Rockies up & down
Top 4th
- Jason Heyward Double
- dude continues to do *just* enough to keep me from disavowing him
- Recalling that James Outman hit his first career HR, in his first career AB, at Coors Field last season. 1/1 tonight he may love hitting in this place
Bot 4th
- Weird little play with Rojas and Muncy getting caught in between picking up a grounder
- had no idea Muncy was back before game time btw
- Kershaw 12/12 Rockies up & down
Bot 5th
- Kershaw 15/15 Rockies up & down
- time to bludgeon this shitty organization and watch Kersh ride out a No-No
Top 6th
- JD Martinez 2nd HR of the day!!
- 300th HR for JD Martinez!
- Brad Hand sighting for the Rockies. Make that extra $$ why not Brad
- James Outman 2/3 today. Hottest hitter in MLB since three days ago
- If Rojas gets a hit here we're winning 115 games
- Miguel Rojas has already accounted for 6 groundball outs thru 5 innings haha. Defense matters I guess
- Rojas lineout to RF
Bot 6th
-Kershaw out after 1 hit given up
Bot 7th
- Graderol in and man do i love him
Top 8th
- Rockies extract Pitcher due to apparent injury (fear)
- Nick Mears threw two pitches to Max Muncy and came out of the game for injury on a 1-1 count
- Random thought: If you could bet that the Rockies would win a WS by 2031 on the odds that if they win by 2031, you die, but if they don't win by 2031 you get $25,000,000 , would you bet either side on that?
Bot 8th
- Ryan Brasier gets 3 and out for the Dodgers
- New pen arm for the Dodgers off recent signing
- Brasier is the quintessential "formerly back-end bullpen guy" that has only pitched for immemorable teams like the Angels and Red Sox
- Brasier apparently was released by BOS earlier this season, and since picked up by the Dodgers. Despite me watching basically every game this is the first time I've noticed him pitch for the Dodgers, good band aid, not an answer
Dodgers win 5-0 contrary to my hypothesis on this game exploding. Hearing JD Martinez talk with Kirsten Watson about how "good Kershaw was today" makes me genuinely happy.
